experiencing this issue today as well, I was able to play yesterday though. Tried restarting steam, verifying files, using the scout runtime, verifying the scout runtime, rebooting, reinstalling, wont work.
Hello @SamuelGogarty, the Counter-Strike 2 Linux client is intended to be run in the Steam Linux Runtime 3.0 (Sniper) runtime. This is configured to be used by default. Forcing the game to Steam Linux Runtime
leads to https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/9844 and is not supported.
I've had this issue for a couple of weeks now, not sure if related but the chain is same as huanmoon described.
CS2 works for me. Steam version steam 1.0.0.78-2
installed thru pacman
.
Is the Runtime installed and visible in your Steam library?
I generally have to update the Runtime every couple of game updates.
Having same issue. Steam Linux Runtime 3.0 (sniper) is installed. But is not listed in the compatibility settings in CS2 properties.
Your system information
Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
I wanted to play cs2 on archlinux but when I tried launching the game, it crashed without any outputs. The text on the button turned "play" into "stop", but actually nothing happened. Sometimes the text on the button will turn into "play" again, and sometimes it was "stop". I went to this folder (/home/huan_moon/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Counter-Strike Global Offensive/game) and tried starting the game with the file cs2.sh. It failed and warned FATAL: It appears CS2 was not launched within the Steam for Linux sniper runtime environment. FATAL: Please consult documentation to ensure correct configuration, aborting.
