Confirm. Fixed both inventory and in-game dark places.
Fixed for me too! Thank you guys!
Appears to be fixed on official maps but still seems broken on community maps. Was the fix map-specific?
Fix wasn't map specific. Are you seeing this on some community maps you've tried, or all of them? Feel free to point us to one so we can test. Any other users experiencing the same on community maps? Thanks.
@mariodonofrio I haven't tried any community maps but I will do so now and report back with details and screenshots over/after the weekend if I run into any problems. p.s Thank you to all on the team for bringing CSGO to Linux for us, we really appreciate the time and effort you've all put in.
@mariodonofrio I also am getting some dark/black models on some community maps (for example fy_iceworld is pretty bad for me)
On official maps everything renders fine, though !
Just a feed back, today after i've installed and tested it on fresh Ubuntu 14.04 and linux mint 17, i just have to install this extra package "libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0:i386" using apt-get to fix my problem here... before that, all textures in game are black like this screenshot below.
Tested on an Asus notebook with an Intel graph integrated card: "Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)"
Screenshot of the error solved: https://cloud.githubusercontent.com/assets/73012/4452441/f3ea5ce6-4846-11e4-8b7d-d6a1cc7909fd.png
@mportela libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0 implements a compression method which scared away mesa devs due to legal issues. Other devs made libtxc-dxtn to cover the gap. Both amd and nvidia's proprietary drivers include this function inside their driver blob and they were equally affected.
I'm still getting black textures any time they're not in direct light:

Edit: I would like to correct this post, this issue doesn't occur on "proper" competitive maps, but it does occur at least on most aim maps (am_*). It doesn't happen on Windows, so I'm guessing it's related to this bug. Here are a couple of more screenshots that demonstrate the issue:
Confirmed that this issue still exists (despite being 'closed'). There's a link to a community map above from @jpleau, but I can provide more if desired.
Any advise on how to get the libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0:i386 on an opensuse ?
I installed the ibtxc_dxtn but everything is still dark here.
Hi Asterix34, here http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=libtxc_dxtn.so
i've founded some rpms like: s2tc-1.0-7.1.i586.html - Super Simple Texture Compression - OpenSuSE Factory for i586 - s2tc-1.0-7.1.i586.rpm
you should try some of this...
thanks for help mportela, I found that link yesterday but I had no idea which one to use :)) I come from debian, and this is all new for me.
So i've tried to install it but it conflicts with libtxc_dxtn that i installed yesterday. I have some other bugs on desktop right now, so i'm trying to fix them first then i'll come back here if I still have a problem.
edit: i fixed it by selecting the 32bit version in yast libtxc_xtn-32bit. Now I have the same problem than everyon else here : it's only dark in limited situations.
:+1:
I am using Elementary OS 0.3 64bits (powered by ubuntu 14.04) and I have this bugs here.
My GPU is Nvidia GT218M [GeForce 310M] and I am using: ¨NVIDIA binary driver - version 340.76 from nvidia-340 (open source)¨ I have 4GB ram memory. All weapons and soldiers are black, only the map is ok.
Please fix this bug.
@pinportal did you install libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0:i386? The bug in CSGO is fixed, this should be a bug with your distribution.
@n1trux I have just tried sudo apt-get install libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0:i386 on terminal and it says ¨libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0:i386 is already the newest version.¨ so I think it was already on there.
It is working, but sometimes maps on the gameplay are so heavy and slow. I dont know why, because last month I was using Windows 7 in this notebook and CS GO was running excellent.
I think it is a problem with CS GO linux and Nvidia driver.
Which ppa do you trust to update Nvidia driver? I am using ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa
This still happens con 1v1 (am_) community maps, as @Hubro and @jpleau said.
Is there a fix to this problem ? Shadows are still PITCH DARK for me (on all non-competitive maps)
Problem still persists:

use lts version of your linux distro
still same issue... doesn't valve plan to fix this issue?
Hello @meydominic, @efe3535, the investigation of the issue tracked in this issue report concluded in 2014.
If there's a newer issue with similar symptoms, then that issue should be reported separately, if it hasn't been already.

The issue was never resolved for community maps, take a look at the 10-20 posts above.
Most noticeable on CS_Office , The dark textures show on hostages , pictures , the gun model itself .
The gun model texture will show up if I walk under a direct light source.
