Push-to-talk not working while dead. #507

Closed daniel-Jones closed 8 years ago

daniel-Jones commented 8 years ago

Hey there, Lately i've been unable to use the push-to-talk feature in game while /DEAD/. The feature works fine when not dead and for the kill preview straight after death. I couldn't see any console output that would be of use. This occurs 100% of the time on community servers, unsure about matchmaking as i'm quite scared to play competitively with the chance of being mute during the game. I'd love to find a solution, I've been without MM for a few weeks, and it's starting to annoy me, lol System information: Processor Information: Vendor: GenuineIntel CPU Family: 0x6 CPU Model: 0x3a CPU Stepping: 0x9 CPU Type: 0x0 Speed: 3901 Mhz 8 logical processors 4 physical processors HyperThreading: Supported FCMOV: Supported SSE2: Supported SSE3: Supported SSSE3: Supported SSE4a: Unsupported SSE41: Supported SSE42: Supported

Try it in matchmaking to make sure it's not an issue with the serve configuration. It's a random pug, not esl finals, you can play a match without mic.

daniel-Jones commented 8 years ago

Hi jeifour, I was able to confirm that the issues still occurs in casual/demolition/deathmatch. I didn't try competitive as it is 1:30am where I am. :)

daniel-Jones commented 8 years ago

I guess I should also mention that this isn't a system/OS problem, I know this because the icon that lets you know you are speaking doesn't actually come up when this issue occurs.

iKoze commented 8 years ago

Hi, as far as I know, this isn't an issue. It's built in since CS 1.6 and is meant to make you unable to give your teammates hints while you're dead and watching spectator cam. In real live, you also can't talk to someone while you're dead.

daniel-Jones commented 8 years ago

Hi IKoze, Interesting thought, however I've always bee nable to talk when dead in the past, and I am also pretty sure I have witnessed others talking as well when dead. Is there anything I could try to confirm/deny this as an issue?

Tele42 commented 8 years ago

It's possible some server admins have set their server to allow this behavior, just like the server admin can set voice chat to be between teams.

jakob11git commented 8 years ago

That's why I asked him to play an official matchmaking game. You can talk there even when dead without any problems to any of your teammates regardless of their life/death status. It's a bit different in the official casual servers, but talking while dead is generally also working there, just with the caveat that alive people won't hear anything of that. Custom server configurations are always possible, and that doesn't matter if it is 1.6, Source or GO.

Edit: @daniel-Jones make sure you try to play GO with pavucontrol opened in the background. That fixed some issues for me, maybe it also fixes your issue.

daniel-Jones commented 8 years ago

I shall bite the bullet and play a game of MM, will let you guys know the results.

daniel-Jones commented 8 years ago

Well that sucked, major anchor. Lost MGE, now MG2, lol Anyway, yes I can confirm this IS an issue in MM and therefore is quite major. :/ I simply don't have enough time to relay my information to my team :(

daniel-Jones commented 8 years ago

Any devs willing to check this issue out? I really want to get back into competitive play.

daniel-Jones commented 8 years ago

Used 5GB of my precious capped internet to see if reinstalling would help.. it didn't.

ghost commented 8 years ago

Could be a problem with your config. Try renaming your /cfg in your csgo folder and start CSGO. Its should download the default cfg again.

daniel-Jones commented 8 years ago

I completely deleted and reinstalled CS:GO earlier, didn't help.

ghost commented 8 years ago

Did you remove csgo through steam or did you delete game folder in /steamapps/common/?

daniel-Jones commented 8 years ago

Deleted the folder manually

ghost commented 8 years ago

Was your config reset to the default or did you still have all your binds etc?

daniel-Jones commented 8 years ago

well, it was partially default, i assume it downloaded my sync settings. Had to rebind a few things though.

ghost commented 8 years ago

What service do you play CSGO on? (ESEA, CEVO, ...)

daniel-Jones commented 8 years ago

I don't use any external league service, only MM.

ghost commented 8 years ago

I have no idea. You could try doing "exec config_default.cfg; host_writeconfig" to reset your config again. Godspeed trying to fix it.

daniel-Jones commented 8 years ago

Thanks for your ideas! :)

Well, weeks later; I have figured out what was wrong. When you bind "use mic" to a number key, you can no longer talk when dead. However, any other key works fine. When I changed my binding, I had changed them to ones on my mouse, you see, I am currently using a razer naga, which corresponds each key to a number. Hope someone can use this info in the future.
