CS:GO Segfaults every 15 - 30 minutes #545

I keep getting segfaults in CS:GO around the 15-30 minute mark. Sometimes much later on in the game, it can be quite random at times. It happens in any game mode and almost always during a game. Although, it has happened right before the mapped finished loading.

I'm getting the following messages before and during the crash:

I am getting the same problem, game crashes every ~10 rounds. Slackware-current Kernel 4.1.15 AMD FX-8120 Nvidia GTX-560Ti nvidia-driver 352.63

Who do we contact about bans on the account which have occurred because of the game crashing? With the winter update crashes I got a 24 hour ban. I already got kicked from 2 games from this updates segfaults so it feels like I will soon be banned for 7 days and I can't do anything about it.

Same issue here, Its happening randomly, sometimes I get 2 rounds in and it crashes again, its completely broken the game. Any other info I can provide?

@logancrmp @af7567 @TandBacon, glad I'm not the only on then. Let's try and figure out what we have in common.

For starters, when did the issues start arising?

*Correction: issues started around the winter updates and became it's worst after the latest update

@af7567 as far as the bans go, I don't think there's much you can do. There's supposed to be a reconnect or abandon option if you start csgo back up after quitting abruptly. Although if you're crashing every 10 minutes, it won't be of much help

Mine started only started happening a lot with the latest update today. It happened once or twice after they reverted the rifle/pistol nerf, but it wasn't a huge issue until today. It's happening with steam overlay enabled and disabled.

We're all running Nvidia cards on Linux, that's what we got in common. This is a very recent thing, I was playing for hours before the update without any issue, since updating been near impossible to play without crashing.

Alright so something to do with latest uodates for sure then. @logancrmp, same here I experienced the odd crash but after the latest update it's consistently happening. Just out of curiosity, do you also experience random drops in frame rate and quick freezes?

I just got done playing 3 competitive matches, totally fine. I did have issues right after the winter update but they seemed to be fixed with a patch the day after.

I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 and use an Nvidia GTX 560Ti.

No, mines really smooth until it hangs. After the first winter update I would randomly getting looping audio, like the same .1 seconds of audio would loop over and over and nothign would make noise, but apparently thats an old bug and I fixed it by changing audio to 2 speaker mode. After that it was smooth until these crashes. Any logs I should post?

Been getting the exact same issue. I'm on Fedora 23. At random times, I'll get a five second freeze followed by a CTD. Has happened multiple times and in almost every game. Logs have been pasted below. I played a game this morning without a single issue. It seems as though today's update is the cause. How do I go about reporting this bug to Valve?

These crashes started for me on the latest update which happened today 18-12-2015 GMT. I did have problems before with the winter update, but that was fixed after another small update and I have been playing OK since then.

@FrancisBaileyH I do get the option to reconnect but after so many times you just get kicked anyway, or the team gets annoyed and kicks you :)

Same issue, segfault happens after ~3-4 games.

Lubuntu 15.04 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz Nvidia GTX 970 Windforce 8Gb DDR3 RAM two 1080p monitors, one 144Hz, one 70Hz - single X screen session

X.org package version: 1:7.7+7ubuntu4, using LXDE

Issue has been happening for as long as I've played the game on Linux. Typical solution is just to reboot the game after every few matches, although the frequency of crashes can change on custom maps and community servers.

It is incredibly consistent though - all you have to do is play the game for a long time and wait for it to segfault.

Same issue here on ubuntu 14.04 with nvidia 355 drivers.

Same issue, Arch Linux with Intel HD 4000.

Same issue. Freezes and about a second later window disappears. No issues in before patch.

Hi, game randomly disconnect while play competetive. I have Debian 8, FX-6350, Nvidia GTX 580, 340.65 driver.

Hi, same here. I play like 5 minutes (some time more, some time less) of competitive match and always get disconnected... Lost two not only because of that but that not helped...
