I've just tested and the mode is bugged as well in CS1.6, terrorists don't disappear when they escape.
If it can be fixed, it could be nice.
I'm developing original Tours of Duty campaign, that includes es maps.Escape gamemode has other problem.Program automatically exchange player's side each three rounds.Player start es map as T,after 3 rounds his team become CT,and more 3 rounds back to T.... It's almost bug that destroy ToD concept.
It's not a bug, it's a feature!
And by the way, if I can give you an advice, don't include Escape map in Tour of Duty. Bots can't recognize Escape zone so the whole game is broken. And a bots reworking to support Escape system would be a waste of time and it's not under the scope of the current work.
As Irv1n3 replied, it's a feature. Something that I typed up a while back to clarify how the terrorist escape gameplay mode functions -> http://jasonwilliams400com.startlogic.com/snor/weeds/Counter_Strike/Documentation/Counter-Strike_Terrorist_Escape_Gameplay_Notes.txt
Es mode work well when role of player is T in ToD.It make more interesting ToD campaign, and revive es maps.I think automatic exchange is bad feature because of outside configuration should set exchange or not and how many rounds need to exchange, not gamemode itself. Moreover,es has similar problem cs.If standard es map allow those settings and has multiple escape goals that make it worth the same as other major gamemodes.
Ideas on how to improve CS (hostage) mode? (Also AS maps?) http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2856973
Please stay focused, I really want to see this game mode working
In Escape maps (es_), when a terrorist was to escape, it should disappear like hostages or VIP when they have reach their safe zone.
It's not currently true, the terrorist is well marked as escaped (the message "A terrorist has escaped" appears) but the terrorist is still in the game and can still move and fire.
