[CS - Bug] You throw a weapon farther when you look down #1058

Closed ghost closed 11 years ago

ghost commented 11 years ago

When you look down and throw a weapon, it should land near you When you look up and throw a weapon, it should land farther

At the moment it's the opposite: when you look down you throw your weapon father than when you look up video: http://youtu.be/h9nVDqZDees

ghost commented 11 years ago

Do not fix this. it has always been like that and everyone is used to it.

revo4ever commented 11 years ago

fix that plz, In order to become a real game a bit

LevShisterov commented 11 years ago

When I fixed this for a test in HL a friend of me whom I asked about that said that most CS players already customized to current behavior and it will be wrong to change that, even in HL, because some players plays both games.

MrSchism commented 11 years ago

Personally, I think it -should- be fixed. Just because someone has become accustomed to a specific bad action, does not make it the right action.

ghost commented 11 years ago

every single feature of the game such as airmove should be removed then since they're bugs ?

ghost commented 11 years ago

airmove is very deep in the code and a lot of things are based on it this bug is a simple math mistake

LevShisterov commented 11 years ago

Suppose players play this game professionally and they know that to drop a bomb just below you they have to look upper and opposite otherwise. They know what angle they have to look to drop precisely and now you came and change this. Just because you think its just right. No matter they learned this for years...

sorry, I just have nothing to say

ghost commented 11 years ago

"airmove is very deep in the code and a lot of things are based on it this bug is a simple math mistake"

airmove isn't deep in the code at all, not deeper than the drop bug and fixing airmove is as simple as fixing a few lines in pm_shared.c and it's even easier to just normalise the velocity in the end so it won't make anyone gain speed, anyone can fix it in a minute and i can call airmove as much a math (or physics) mistake as the drop bug is; LevShisterov's comment is perfectly relevant

healthycs16 commented 11 years ago

Do not fix this simply because it's not a bug and it's extremely useful to drop/exchange weapons in spawn between teammates.

Edit: it is also useful to throw the c4 to a teammate in difficult situations.

Skoddd commented 11 years ago

What a retarded suggestion. Please, don't fix this. it has been like that for years and everyone is used to this,

ghost commented 11 years ago

why you are so attached to the old behavior

ghost commented 11 years ago

it DOES affect gameplay as long as people learned how to deal with it and how to drop bombs and weapons accordingly I can't even count how many obvious spots with proper angles are possible with the current behavior and changing it would wreck it up in the meaning that everyone will have to learn the angles again from scratch. why not having it as a client variable then ? it's not hard to do it through user info keyvalues.

we are attached to the old behavior because CS 1.6 is a game we love and play since the beginning and will ever do because it is just perfect as it is you do not have to change a single thing in the gameplay unless you call it CS 1.7 or something else

ghost commented 11 years ago

people learned how to deal with it

That's the point! Stop "dealing" with bugs and allow Alfred to fix them.

I can't even count how many obvious spots with proper angles are possible with the current behavior and changing it would wreck it up.

god... use the same angle, but look in the opposite direction.

CS 1.6 is a game we love and play since the beginning and will ever do because it is just perfect as it is

I'm starting to hate this phrase. If you love Counter-Strike "since the beginning" then go play CS "from the beginning": CS BETA1 [6.19.1999] or CS 1.0 [11.8.2000] or "Original" CS 1.6 [9.9.2003]. A lot has changed since then and you still play and love CS as it is and you will not stop loving it. If you are going to stop playing CS because of updates then stop playing right now for everyone's sake.

ghost commented 11 years ago

why should we bother learning again something that was done over the years ? what about reflexes ? can't you understand that it runs just fine as it is now ? it IS a part of the game whether you want it or not and if you have to fix this because it's a bug you'll have to fix MUCH MORE than just this because there are many other bugs (airmove, ground velocity not normalized, ladder jump angles, doubleduck, ETC)

you tell us to play cs "from the beginning" how can anyone play CS from the beginning as you say ? there isn't any possible way to play in older builds of CS1.6 steam unless on hacked servers with a hacked client which is illegal.

do not tell me that a lot changed in CS1.6 because it's just plain false, and I would say you have no idea about the game if you think so, and i will ask you to name me a SINGLE gameplay feature that was permanently edited in CS1.6 since the start of this version, good luck.

why are you so butthurt because nobody agrees with a bugreport that you've made yourself ? it's nothing personal, i couldn't care less of you, your idea was just plain bad because it mentioned even just a tiny slight change in the gameplay and it's not even the goal of this update

and do not tell me to stop playing right now for everyone's sake, because you have NO IDEA about what others think so speak for yourself as much as you say that this bug is "confusing for anyone etc.." you have no clue at all if it's confusing for the others so don't use your own personal experience as a base for everyone else because it's not wise at all

HeadshotDeluxe commented 11 years ago

It's not a bug, but feature. :) Max you can't fix all the game. You fix bugs, you get bugs. Let it roll.

HeadshotDeluxe commented 11 years ago

Good example: challenge pro-mod for quake3 (CPMA). They rebuilded it,cleaned it, polished it and fixed it in all the holes. Then they changed some gameplay things in "right way"...

@adnmynjh

Old (not steampipe) build works fine ergo find old .gcf files and use them

i will ask you to name me a SINGLE gameplay feature that was permanently edited in CS1.6 since the start of this version, good luck.

I'm sure there's more. Normal users do not have access to the full list of changes.

why are you so butthurt because nobody agrees with a bugreport that you've made yourself

I'm trying to prove my point of view, that's all. And as you can see in the first comments, 2 people agreed with me

alfred-valve commented 11 years ago

Thanks for everyones input, we won't be changing behavior here at this time.
