I am trying to re-enter this area and every time I do the game crashes.

I have tried all kinds of things to get by it, but the switch loads the area so I can't noclip to get past it.

I tried to enable logging, but it didn't show me any data. Anything I can do to be more helpful let me know, because I can't proceed in the game :(

I think a crash dump file (in case it is created) would be useful to the developers in case you could upload it somewhere. The crash dump files are located in a path similar to C:\Program Files\Steam\dumps. Make sure to select the right dump file that relates to the crash (in case you are unsure delete all the files in that folder and then reproduce the crash, it should create a new file then).

However don't expect a fix any time soon, because Valve seems to have other stuff to care about atm or in other words haven't seen them addressing "urgent" bugs in this tracker since quite a while now.

Here is a crash dump file.

Same here. Win 7 64 bit. Crash dump. http://www.filedropper.com/crashhlexe201403060414211

johndrinkwater commented 10 years ago

Providing your save file that triggers this would also be helpful.

ghost commented 10 years ago

Save file. http://www.filedropper.com/half-life-017

dtugend commented 10 years ago

@dogbyte420 I wanted to download the save file and check it on Windows XP, if it crashes too, but that link just leads to an upload page o_O

ghost commented 10 years ago

@ripieces Looks like the link expired. Try this one. http://www.sendspace.com/file/3l6vhv

dtugend commented 10 years ago

Thanks. When loading that area using your safefile, it crashes on Windows XP too. My hardware / system specs can be found here. I don't feel like replaying OF atm to see if it will produce a savefile, that will cause the mapchange to crash, too, maybe later.

dtugend commented 10 years ago

I don't know why the savefile leads to a crash upon mapchange.

I played Opposing Force using cheats to that level on Windows XP and didn' get the crash.

But before that I had a crash when loading one of the autosave files and walking through a level (no map change/loading). Crashdump is here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/s1ghn0 However I cannot provide a savefile for that, because I didn't remember to back the autosave up before it got overwritten by newer autosave files :-(

I think you could try playing from an earlier save to the same position and there might be the chance of not producing a crash again. However I don't know, but you might give it a try @dogbyte420
