[Question] Third-party slowhack game protectors #1637

Would using a third-party game protector to prevent slowhacking such as CSXGuard result in a VAC ban? Download it here: http://cs.rin.ru/forum/download/file.php?id=22048

One day, I asked Steam support if I could use "Process Explorer" to bypass Steam's "An instance of this application is already running" in order to test my multiplayer mod more efficiently by having 2 Half-Life running at the same time (one would be the local server without VAC and another one would be the client) and here's the answer I got from the support:

We don't offer analysis of third-party programs/softwares which could be, or not, compatible with our VAC system. Any program, software, skin or other modification which you are using with Steam is under your responsibility and must be done at your sole discretion.

Only cheat codes (modifications of files designed to take an advantage against other players) will trigger a VAC ban.

I invite you to adress all your questions concerning a third-party program or software directly to it's developer(s).

For more information on the VAC system, please refer to this article:

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7849-RADZ-6869

If I understand correctly, anything that is not related to cheating can be used. So theorically, your anti-cheat could be used, but usage of this is at your own risk (nobody except you will be responsible if something happens to your PC/Steam account...).

To be honest, I wouldn't even install and use that kind of thing, especially when your Steam account has a huge value.

Thank you for replying.

Well, it's basically a client protector that rejects some messages coming from the server. It shouldn't result in a VAC ban unless it has some other things that I'm not aware of. It injects itself into the game so there's a high possibility it will be considered as a cheat.

I want to use it because it offers complete and customizable protection against slowhacking, unlike the game's default protection system, which can be bypassed.

Except for asking the developer, which I don't know how to contact, is there any other way I could find out the answer to my question and be 100% sure the answer is true?
