Vsync causes character movement to "lag" when looking at flickering lights. #1882

For some reason when Vsync is enabled and I'm looking at flickering lights, the player movement kind of "hiccups" every few frames, it's hard to describe it. Sometimes the mouse movement also hiccups when looking around while facing a flickering light. When Vsync is disabled the issue doesn't exist, however, the game looks awful with the screen tearing.

I've been searching around for a bit not and I've seen many threads in which people talk about this issue and suggest turning off Vsync. Surely this can be fixed, this is the only game I have this issue with. And then there's other OpenGL games like Quake2 or even better KMquake2 in which there are all sorts of exaggerated dynamic lights and shadows moving around during firefights and everything is smooth, it's kind of disappointing to see a game like Half Life have these issues, especially for so long without anyone bothering to fix them.

Does Valve even care?

Honestly, they only fix security issues and other issues with maps. Try contacting Valve through email.

Does Valve even care? No. Probably busy counting money on their CS GO sales and investing more back into publicity.
