Stand on this lamp an crouch jump while walking towards the wall. Weapon sometimes turns black.

@LinAGKar: Can you retest this issue after updating your steam client? Valve released an update on Feb 8th that fixes some issues with textures (relating to the steam overlay) on Intel graphics. (See also #190). Did you notice if pressing shift+tab was likely to cause these issues to occur in the past?

I'm pretty sure this is caused by the lighting.

Yes I see. I reproduced this on HD3000 using Mesa 9.

Update: I also see the same lighting behavior with NVidia binary drivers. I'm going to untag Intel drivers for this issue.

Here is a spot in the game where I found a harsh lighting transition (weapon goes quickly from visible to black). After the initial 'incident' you make your way back to the arrival desk. You then crawl through a duct into a control room, then up a file cabinet to get back into a hallway. At this point you see a scientist attacked in a room with big windows. Anyway, outside that room in the hallway is where some harsh lighting transition occurs in the game. All-in-all it does not seem like a big issue.

This also repros on Windows with the 25th anniversary update (savegame attached), but is below the bar for us to fix at this point. Would likely require map changes.
