This happens on Windows too.
In the level Office Complex there is a wooden door that is scripted to be torn apart by a zombie from the other side. If you shoot and kill the zombie before it's able to finish breaking down the door you can not get in. It's a wooden door so the crowbar should do the trick. I'M pretty sure this wasn't the case with the original Half-Life for Window$.
I posted another issue on the result of leading saved game. It was quickly closed and I fill that may have been a mistake. Please just take a second look.
One last thing. Thanks to everyone who helped bring Half-Life to Linux. To this day it's my favorite game and it's finally on Linux, which is obviously my preferred OS, the only one I use these days.
