More than ten years passed since half-life 1 and Counter-Strike 1.6 came out and now everyone can afford to get better sound devices, hard drive space and internet speeds but game only allows to emit_sound in wav format only and pretty low quality and big file size
mp3 with normal quality currently can be used only to play sound to specific players as a background music not as soundevents on map, so
I'm suggesting to either implement better sound file format support for sound events (with compression and quality simular or better than mp3) or just make it possible to use mp3 as sound events files.
