Tested with the current release and beta version 15:37:10 Mar 21 2013 (5992)
I also know of one other person with a different graphics card and window manager who confirms this problem.
When playing CS 1.6 and you are dead, name and health of your current 'camera-target' are displayed at the bottom. It seems that there is a limit on the length, since long names (or the health) get truncated.
Small names work as expected.
The truncated versions of the names seem to be centered on the screen, as if the rendered string was cut to fit into a maximum size area (a guess). Cutting can also happen mid-character.

Two (truncated and scaled (from 1680x1050)) screenshots to show the problem: http://i.imgur.com/DpGPshq.png http://i.imgur.com/w9LADO7.png
