Wall Penetration on Linux verse Windows hosted servers #3294

Open acetamino-dod opened 2 years ago

acetamino-dod commented 2 years ago

Day of Defeat 1.3 - goldsource engine - The game is calculating different wall penetration values depending on if the user is playing on a local, windows, or linux based server. The video below shows wall penetration for the same spot on a linux verse windows server. The linux server offers no penetration. The windows server has penetration. A user would expect wall penetration in this example. Damage appears to vary depending on windows/linux based servers as well as if they are 500 or 1000 FPS servers. The same game files were installed on both servers, but the game is acting differently.

@acetamino-dod sv_clienttrace was 3.5 at that moment you tested? both times?

Can confirm this is still an issue. Would love to see a fix for this included in the 25th Anniversary updates.

Well they completely remade the linux client yet did nothing with the linux server package which badly needs a complete revamp from top to bottom.

I can confirm sv_clienttrace is set at 3.5 on both a 500 FPS Windows Server and 1000 FPS Linux server. You can 'correctly' penetrate walls on the windows build but not on the linux build.
