Green Blood [ Content Lock ] #467

Open kekew0w opened 11 years ago

kekew0w commented 11 years ago

I know it's an old problem and i also know that adding commands like:

violence_ablood "1" violence_agibs "1" violence_hblood "1" violence_hgibs "1"

could solve the problem, but i never used this command and i never had problems with it... Until now! I have to turn the content lock on and off to fix it and i'm doing it everytime i'm joining a server. It's annoying! Any suggestions?

kind regards

I am not sure what the bug is you are reporting. Low violence mode is a combination of the above cvars AND the licensing restrictions placed on your purchase by your country of purchase (i.e Germany requires low violence mode).

kekew0w commented 11 years ago

hmm.. I'm not sure too, i never had that problem with Counter-Strike 1.6 and everything works fine except this blood bug! i think i will observe this for a few days and if it won't disappear, i'll be back here.

@alfred-valve: Regardless of this bug report, is Valve planning to loosen its regulations regarding low violence or to provide a mode to verify your age and upgrade the version of your game? Because as a matter of fact the german law only states that it's forbidden to advertise an indexed game. If you are at the age of 18 you are allowed to buy or import any game you like with any violence level. But even if you do so, by let's say importing the uncut version from England, Steam probably won't let you register said game because you are trying to do so from within Germany.

Counter-Strike 1.6 isn't an indexed game here in Germany and I never had to verify my age via steam etc, in fact i don't really know if valve is planning something like this. I bought it here and I activated it here too, without any problems until today. Six years without this bug. I already installed it again but it didn't work out.

Also consider that you are able to buy 2 different versions of CS in germany. One of them is released with FSK16 and the other one with FSK18. I don't think its a good deal to force FSK18 versions using low violence content after years of playing if its the case.

I agree with @konschta and @kekew0w.

@kekew0w I wasn't talking about CS but games in general, consider for example Saints Row or L4D(2), in the latter zombies you just shot disappear before they even hit the ground, which looks so weird, that you cannot tell sometimes if you killed them or not. Don't get me wrong I have no violence or gore fetish, quite the contrary but one might want to decide for oneself which version to play.
