[CS 1.6] The biggest GUI update #517

Dear developers, the GUI in CS 1.6 haven’t been very nice but now it seems to be awful. Just look at the close button, it is terrible: http://filepic.ru/1361549578 I suggest to make a new official GUI for CS 1.6 (with possible to switch to current GUI). That would be very nice update and a lot of users will appreciate it. Look at third-party GUI: http://filepic.ru/1361550268 - Fnatic ICE http://filepic.ru/1361550291 - Fnatic Orange http://filepic.ru/1361550328 - Steelseries Blue http://filepic.ru/1361550365 - Steelseries Orange Any of this GUI looks much better. I even can make the design of GUI (.psd file output) if you want.

My second suggestion is to reduce number of launch options and make some checkboxes in the GUI. This is needed because of follow reasons:

Agree, a steam-like GUI maybe?(since the current GUI is like the classic Steam skin) Some transparency wouldn't be bad either.

The non-stretched mode is something he said he was working on, so when that's implemented people won't have to use -nofbo anymore. m_rawinput 1 and m_customaccel 0 pretty much replace the -noforcem commands but I agree with you that it would be preferable to have the functions of launch option commands in the GUI so that you wouldn't have to go searching to find out what does and doesn't exist.

For the GUI, I agree, the current one is pretty ugly. Perhaps after they finish the more important bugs/issues they can update it with a new official one.

Options->Multiplayer->Advanced... _cl_autowepswitch (though it's broken) cl_corpsestay cl_observercrosshair cl_radartype cl_righthand hud_centerid

Options->Multiplayer->Spraypaint image cl_logocolor cl_logofile

Options->Multiplayer->Crosshair appearance cl_crosshair_color (custom colors is for advanced users, they should use console) cl_crosshair_size cl_crosshair_translucent

Options->Mouse m_filter m_rawinput sensitivity

Options->Audio volume

Options->Video brightness gamma

the remaining list: cl_cmdrate cl_dynamiccrosshair cl_min_ct cl_min_t cl_minmodels cl_mousegrab cl_shadow cl_showfps cl_updaterate con_color crosshair (it's old and deprecated, or not?) ex_interp fps_max fps_override gl_ansio hud_fastswitch m_customaccel m_customaccel_exponent m_customaccel_max m_customaccel_scale m_mousethread_sleep net_graph rate vgui_emulatemouse (it's old and deprecated, or not?) zoom_sensitivity_ratio

a half of it is for debugging or for advanced users, don't need it in GUI options

but add those cvars to the GUI is a good idea: cl_dynamiccrosshair cl_minmodels cl_mousegrab cl_shadow gl_ansio hud_fastswitch

read carefully: it would be great if ull add ALL important cvars to the settings menu, LIKE THIS: ... I didn't tell that we have no that cvars, i told that important cvars should be.

crosshair (...or not!) vgui_emulatemouse (...or not!)

Didn't know that crosshair is for red dot in zoom scope :smile:

What about a cvar for disabling "HD Models" ?
