Hooked up a Vive Pro Eye Yesterday and today I suddenly started receiving a 204 error. No web search has given any clue as to what this error means. It asks me to restart steamVR however this has no effect on the error and I can not see or use the Vive pro or index controllers. Controllers wont even pair.

Using SteamVR 1.9.16 Error204

I restarted and the issue disappeared

I keep getting this issue and it doesn't go away.

I really don't understand why it is soooooooooo hard for these guys to KEEP their simulator working! They have more problems than a MICROSOFT application!!!!

Okay, so now, we're back to receiving UNEXPECTED PROBLEMS! (Come to think of it--aren't ALL problems, "unexpected?")

What is it THIS time?!?!?!?

One day, all is well--the next day, FAILURE!!!! Geez freaking Louise.

GenesisAria, what Win10 version do you use? Upgrading to the latest one solved this issue for me

markusrapp3ds commented 3 years ago

I have the same issue followed with error 203. Only for the application I'm developing, which uses OpenVR. SteamVR 1.14.16 worked without a problem. Setup or connection can also not be a problem, because via OpenXR everything is working as expected. This issue is not just present on my machine.

Is there any reason why this can happen? Is there anything which might cause this issue, which needs to be adjusted for OpenVR?

My Windows 10 Enterprise Version is 1909. The used graphics driver 461.09 Also tested with driver 452.57 and 446.14. Exactly the same issue. Other applications like Unreal Engine work fine with SteamVR 1.15.19.

Here's the first error:

VRInitError_Driver_RuntimeOutOfDate = 204,

In our code that's only used in the Oculus driver. Do those of you who have that error have out of date Oculus software installed on your machine? Does updating that make the error go away? Is this error even still happening?

@markusrapp3ds : Please open a new bug for your issue. It's a different error code and likely has a different cause. When you do, please include a SteamVR system report.
