Dear Valve, could you update the SDK again? #359

To bring the multiplayer base in-sync with the games such as HL2MP that are updated occasionally on Steam. Thanks.

It'll never happen, valve doesn't care. They have become a soul-dead indie company with a corporate attitude. Kind of like Gearbox.

I do wish Valve would give us a bit more communication on what their plans are for Source 2013 right now. Definitely feels like we're being left in the dark.

Well they had an update schedule for source 2013, never met it even once... They just can handle it anymore, for whatever reason...

Now all there's left to do is wait for source2 to come out and be at least competitive to Unity and UE4, else they lost the game...

MarkkusBoi commented 8 years ago

They might be more concerned about Source 2 right now.

StrikerMan780 commented 8 years ago

I just hope Valve releases a Source 2 SDK sometime, and I hope it allows relatively easy porting from Source 1 to Source 2.

MarkkusBoi commented 8 years ago

I look forward to this also. I also hope that it'll be on Linux.

Depurture commented 8 years ago

If you're gonna leave Source 1 in the dust, at least tell us when we can migrate to Source 2.

chasetheswift commented 8 years ago

I'd wish they would tear out Havok and then open source the engine at this point.

minexew commented 8 years ago

Just like they did with GoldSrc... oops!

Can you please update it for god sake ? Thank you very much. @Nephyrin @mikesart

Hello again after 4-5 years - time happens so fast.

Follows an evidence video as an example on why we'd need the latest SDK changes from Steam: https://youtu.be/NZuSz-z-Uq0

On 2018/07/24, an update was published stating:

Fixed physics not operating at the correct tickrate when specifying non-standard -tickrate options on the command line

The above video shows how the absence of that newer fix on this repository affects players getting block damage on certain func_door dispositions (when using tickrate 100), which doesn't happen on official HL2MP.

Lastly, I would just respectfully request that it is done what it is willing to be done, as long as resources allow :)

Greetings, Adrián

Valve won't update SDK, because they don't care. There are lots of bugs exist, it would take hours to explain all of them. And we can fix bugs too, but only for our Source SDK 2013 mods, but still would be cool if they update SDK again, and fix all these bugs, but chance of it is low...
