Your system information

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

In Steam menu (like the windows systray one), this appears, and does not make sense: Steam Linux Runtime 3.0 (sniper)

this also appears, which is expected: Counter-Strike 2

Ironically there is a client update so I need to update the version (unless it was just meaning it was for CS2), but I can't see the version info while the vulkan shaders are updating (which takes soooo much longer for CS2).

g572staem commented 1 year ago

OK, that didn't change - the message in the game said something about the client needing to update so must have only referred to CS2 Steam Version: 1694466342 Steam Client Build Date: Tue, Sep 12 8:49 AM UTC +12:00 Steam Web Build Date: Sun, Sep 10 11:01 AM UTC +12:00 Steam API Version: SteamClient020

Also, in the library " Steam Linux Runtime 3.0 (sniper)" appears under recent games.

cs2menu

I was looking for an image icon to post this, github's interface is daft.

"Steam Linux Runtime 3.0 (sniper)" is a compatibility tool which is used to run games that are compiled for its container environment. It isn't a game or app that can be launched on its own, so it shouldn't be shown in that menu, the same way Proton isn't shown in that menu.

Is that what you mean by this issue report?

That is what you mean by your interpretation of this issue report. Have you re-explained it to yourself with more information than is required? Yes.

That said, you missed the part where it shows in library (as is already stated above).

The issue is trivial. An item on a menu, and in the library, that doesn't need to be there... someone might like to fix it. There's even a screenshot of the menu...

csgolibrary

And now there's an added library screenshot.

Nice.

edit: false positive on it being OK, see below

I went looking to delete cache stuff, then found this:

Tried to uninstall:

an option that appeared in the library was to hide it, so I did that but it doesn't hide it from the "systray" menu.

I have recently found a solution to this sort of issue. I had this same issue with Rage. I found that if you change the beta participation on Linux Runtime 3.0, it'll allow you update, which will lead to a uninstall button. The uninstall didn't work, so I switched the beta back to normal, and it updated and worked fine.

I do hope this also works for CS2
