Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

When having Steam open steam will randomly freeze. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. After freezing the gui sometimes crashes completely and will then restart. Happens with both, flatpak and native binary.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Use Steam
CaptainCoward commented 10 months ago

I have the exact same issue on a clean install. I'm not certain but here it started when enabling "Enable Steam Play for all other Titles".

pukmajster commented 10 months ago

Same story on Fedora 39, Gnome Wayland, Radeon RX with recent/latest Mesa drivers. It won't take you out of the game but Steam will restart and re-open all of its windows and taking focus away from the game. And opening the in-game overlay will be SLOW as hell too.

SnoutBug commented 9 months ago

I hope this wasn't obvious, but disabling GPU accelerated rendering for web views resolves the constant crashing and steam becomes way more responsive, including in the game overlay.

Have a similar Problem which let my whole Ubuntu Mate crash... Tried disabling GPU accelerating and will look if this fixes it... oopsie.txt Ubuntu Mate 22.04 ppa:kisak/kisak-mesa https://github.com/Linux-Installation/Ubuntu-Installations-Script

Still having the issue with libcef.so. Some system infos: 5600X with 6600XT, Arch Linux, 6.7.4-arch1-1, KWin.

disabling GPU accelerating and use steam --reset don't work for me. Also tried disabling steam overlay and similar options.

Possibly related: #9974 , #9923, #9953 .

Still having the issue with libcef.so.

I am as well unfortunately. Cannot launch steam. Mine is 6.7.7 kernel, Gnome, Manjaro, 3080 mobile.
