cant use a controller with allot of games that used to work

I am kind of out of ideas so figured id ask you guys for help. A few weeks ago I was able to play all my games with my xbox controller just fine and had been for a while. Then some games got updates and suddenly most of my games no longer see the controller. some still work but the others don't. Actually after testing it seems the only games that still see the controller are capcom games.

[ Ive tried ] -proton 8-exp with no change. -tried turning steam input on or off no change. -reinstalling steam-devices no change. -re installing the games no change. -someone said changing the perm for /dev/uinput to 666 worked for them but no change
