Steam big picture virtual keyboard input conflicts with xbox gamepad

Symptoms

When I need to use steam virtual keyboard with big picture on and my universal xbox gamepad connected, all keys work fine, but when i press letter o, steam thinks that i pressed dpad up/left stick up, thus acting like it (changing current selected button to the one above). The problem persist even if i use then my physical keyboard. Curious that in just interface (e.g. library search) everything works fine. It doesn't matter, which proton do i use or even do i use proton at all - in Valheim with native linux support keyboard acts the same.

Reproduction

1. Launch any game in big picture with xbox gamepad in;
2. Find anything that requires text input;
3. Try to enter text/enter letter 'o'.

Please apologize me if this will be unrelated to proton, or steam at all, i am in a total confusion, and there's nothing on the internet that could be partly useful abt this topic.

I have this exact same issue. Happens with the letter o, t, and some others as well. I tried using ps4, xbox 360, and xbox one controllers and they all display the same behavior. I'm on fedora 40 running on x11.
