[Steam client] Linux games are missing after update #1191

Closed ManuGithubSteam closed 11 years ago

Hi

I noticed that some Linux games versions are now missing from the Linux tab in the library. Now there are only 20 games in it. Before the latest two updates there where 29 games listed as Linux compatible and able to install.

Some games who are now missing:

The Binding of Isaac Bit Trip Runner Blocks that matter Snapshot Rochard Closure

These games where playable for me, they did install and start correctly. Why are they removed ?

Many other users report this also. See here http://steamcommunity.com/app/221410/discussions/0/864958451309205757/ And here: http://www.holarse-linuxgaming.de/forums/spiele/linuxspiele/steam_beta_f%C3%BCr_alle_ist_da

Whats going on ?

swordfischer commented 11 years ago

A couple of days ago some updates went through the Steam CDR, removing oslist Linux from a series of games (BIT.TRIP Runner, Crayon Physics Deluxe, LIMBO, Braid, Multiwinia, Snapshot, Rochard, Oil Rush, Dustforce, Closure) which is why some of them are removed from the client - there are other flags that will make them show up in the library though.

Though, Closure (missing executable), Rochard (missing executable), Snapshot (invalid app config) and Bit Trip Runner (invalid app config) still shows in my list, and should in yours too. I don't have The Binding of Isaac listed (and never have) - and I don't own Blocks That Matter, so can't give a status on that.

Are you sure you have selected "Linux Games" in the Library Dropdown and dont have any categories collapsed?

You are saying that some of them were playable for you; are you in any closed betas for these games (password protected) ?

@swordfischer: are you sure you run the latest version of Steam? Because for me (and others, see the last comment at http://steamcommunity.com/app/63710/discussions/0/846938350851761421/#c864958451310543547 ) BIT.TRIP RUNNER is missing from the list again. In my Linux games list with nothing collapsed.

swordfischer commented 11 years ago

Yeah running the latest version, I submitted wrong info about BIT.TRIP RUNNER though. As mentioned earlier in the first paragraph they had oslist removed in CDR a couple of days ago.

I also run the latest version of steam and i did run Closure and SuperMeat Boy successful and they are not listed anymore. Nothing is collapsed

swordfischer commented 11 years ago

@ManuGithubSteam Are you absolutely sure you've launched Super Meat Boy through Steam on Linux? Since the developers (Team Meat) stated that we will never see the port on Steam for Linux I am very reluctant to believe this is the case. (http://www.formspring.me/EdmundM/q/414216982796194639?utm_medium=social&utm_source=noservice&utm_campaign=shareanswer&_sg=&_sk=) Also seeing that SMB does not have oslist, validos, depots or any configuration for Linux in Steam CDR.

It is possible to trick Steam to launch games with missing executable, but that's not with the Steam binaries which may be missing achievements etc.

I have Binding of Isaac, Closure, and Snapshot... and never worked when launched from Steam. All were removed from my "Linux" tab.

ManuGithubSteam commented 11 years ago

I dont know if i did launch the steam version of Super Meat Boy but i did definitely try it out with some game who is now not anymore in the list. Also i noted today that my general "All games" list shrunk one game yesterday i had 60 listed but today its only 59. And it is not TF 2 Beta who is missing....

ManuGithubSteam commented 11 years ago

Sorry for that ^ the issue is still present!

frankc-valve commented 11 years ago

Closing this issue because the games you listed are not currently available in the Steam store. Games will be removed (and added) based on their individual status. In this beta period, you will see a lot of changes to what's supported and what isn't As stated before, if a game is in the Linux tab of the Store it is supported by the Linux Steam client; otherwise, it is not supported and results wil vary.

Thanks.

I would also recommend keeping an eye on Games, on Steam for Linux list, it is community-driven list of current games on Steam that support Linux, or have an upcoming support.
