Does the corruption only occur when you open and close the overlay or does it happen regardless of using the overlay? If you turn off the overlay in the game properties does that help?
Also, have you tried different versions of the AMD drivers?
Hi gdrewb-valve, it happens regardless of using the overlay, I tried to make a video but due to technical issues I couldn´t, but here´s what happens, the game starts normally, with the vinil disc rolling, then, when the bell sound occurs, the graphics messes up, it is exactly at this point I mentioned, the overlay works ok.
Since my VGA is an onboard Radeon HD 4290, I don´t have too much driver options, I used the one from the official Ubuntu 12.04 repositories and the lastest from the AMD website (12.06) that is the most updated for my card, the error continues to happen.
I played the same game, but the version from the Humble Indie Bundle, from start to the end and it works normally, everything is ok, the problem is with the Steam version, and from all games I tested on Steam for Linux, the only one with graphic issues is Sword & Sworcey.
If you need more information, please, just tell me!
Thanks!
Thanks for the information. I suspect this is a driver problem but it's hard to know for sure, we'll keep this open for now.
Just to add my two cents. I do not experience this particular problem with this game, however I do with others including Bit.Trip.Runner for instance. Also, in the closed Beta I was able to pass Wine based launcher icons to Steam and allow Windows Games to be played through Wine on Steam. All this was a major success. Now I know this is not supported, however, something interesting now occurs. In the open Beta, the games running through Wine (or Bit.Trip.Runner native through Steam menu) causes graphical rendering issues. Resulting in blocks instead of text, and where there should be block they are painted over with my Steam icon. Yet, when these games are run outside of Steam, no issue occurs. This suggests to me that it is a Steam issue and not graphical drivers issue. Here are my details:
Ubuntu 12.10 RAM: 3.6 GiB Processor: Intel® Core™ i5 CPU M 450 @ 2.40GHz × 4 Graphics Card: Intel® Ironlake Mobile x86/MMX/SSE2
Here´s what happened, after the last update:
These games doesn´t work (I click but they doesn´t start):
Sword & Sworcery EP SPAZ: Space Pirates and Zombies World of Goo
These games start but shows a message that doesn´t allow me to play
And Yet it Moves (Message: Please log in to your Steam client) Cubemen (Message: Can´t find Steam client)
Interesting, somehow this last update made something because these games just can´t find my Steam client.
These are the other games I have installed and worked normally:
Steel Storm: Burning Retribution Cogs Darwinia Splice Trine 2 Eversion Dungeons of Dredmor
These games I mentioned (excepting Splice, Eversion and Dungeons of Dredmor) ran but it looks like they are a little bit laggy, compared to the performance before this last update, it´s a little difference, but I could see it. I don´t know if I have to post this in other thread, if so, sorry!
If you need other info, please, just tell me!
I just installed S&S on my netbook (via Steam) and whenever I open the overlay, I get the following sort of graphical issue:
It gets more drastic the more I have on screen; this is just an intro screen with minimal stuff going on. It becomes a blur of pixels in-game.

Well, I just updated the Steam client and everything is normal again, except by the messed up graphics problem in Sword & Sworcery that still remains.
After installing the latest legacy driver with Catalyst 13.1 from AMD website yesterday, the graphics are normal now.
I played the stand alone version from start to the end with no problem, but I can´t do it with the Steam version, the game works, but it´s unplayable because some parts can´t be seen, the graphics are too messed up, here are some screencaps to show the bug:
My Specs:
O.S.: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64 bits Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T (Six cores) Video: Radeon HD 4290 (Onboard with 512 MB of shared memory) Memory: 4 GB of RAM Catalyst version: 2.14 (the one from the oficial repository)
