[Feature Request] Add Linux icon to Valve games with Linux support on their Store pages #2634

Closed pizzadude closed 11 years ago

pizzadude commented 11 years ago

Many Valve games have Linux support, but aren't listed as Linux supported on their Store page. These include L4D2, Portal, HL2, DOD:S, HL2:DM, HL2 Episode 1 & 2 and Lost Coast. Please let me know if there are any I missed.

MrSchism commented 11 years ago

I don't have access to my client, but last I checked.... L4D2 and Portal were both appended with the the following: (beta).

I'll check in a few minutes here. For now, though, marking it up as Steam Database.

bufke commented 11 years ago

Indeed. Still says beta on L4D2. A blog post for L4D2 just said it was "released". screenshot from 2013-07-02 20 16 03

He said specifically 'store page', this has nothing to do with the library.

connorshea commented 11 years ago

Since it's in beta it shouldn't have a Linux icon. However, the games that are out of beta, such as Portal and Half-LIfe 2, should have icons added to their Steam pages.

pizzadude commented 11 years ago

Left 4 Dead 2 was out of 'Beta' when I posted this, that's why I included it in this issue. But it seems Valve revoked their decision, at least, for now.

gerrywastaken commented 11 years ago

Yeah as far a I knew Portal was out of beta, but no Linux icon showing up so how is anybody to know that it's available?

d10sfan commented 11 years ago

HL2 and episodes are also out of beta, but not showing Linux icons

alfred-valve commented 11 years ago

@d10sfan , If I go to http://store.steampowered.com/app/220 I see the Linux support icon, are you saying that you do not?

d10sfan commented 11 years ago

Ah sorry, now I see it. Portal dosen't have an icon though. Once Portal has a Linux icon, the orange box should be able to too: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/469/

alfred-valve commented 11 years ago

I have justed fixed portal. I think that gets all of our apps now reporting linux support correctly, please speak up if you see one missing.

connorshea commented 10 years ago

Half-Life: Source and Half-Life Deathmatch: Source don't have OS X/Linux icons.

alfred-valve commented 10 years ago

HL:S and HLDM:S are fixed in the store, thanks.

connorshea commented 10 years ago

Half-Life: Source's System Requirements section is a bit broken for OS X/Linux. I would also appreciate if you could improve the PC Requirements section, although I'm just nitpicking at this point. It just bugs me a bit :P

alfred-valve commented 10 years ago

broken in what way?

connorshea commented 10 years ago

It's incorrectly formatted. Compare it to the OS X and Linux sys reqs of Half-Life Deathmatch: Source. The "OS", "Processor", "Memory", "Graphics", etc. should be a darker font color, for example.

connorshea commented 10 years ago

I suppose this would also be the place to mention missing system requirements for OS X/Linux games? It's definitely not necessary, but would be nice to add if possible.

Games lacking them: Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal, Team Fortress 2, and Day of Defeat: Source.

I suppose I should also mention all the GoldSrc games have incorrectly formatted system requirements.
