I have the same problem in Big Picture and some titles (e.g. Strike Suit Zero, independently from Big PIcture) on Intel HD 4400 (Intel Core i5-4200U Haswell cpu) running on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy x64 with latest Intel video drivers from 01.org/linuxgraphics/ (was the same problem with latest drivers from official Ubuntu repos, that's why I tried to update, but no luck).

Just upgraded distro to Ubuntu 14.04 and it looks like this problem is solved - I haven't seen it neither in Big Picture, nor in SSZ (as I reported). Latest Mesa 10.1 seems to solve this on HD4400.

@micb25: Are you able to update Mesa to 10.1 see if it also solves the issue for you? Unfortunately, it looks like openSUSE 13.1 is still the latest release of openSUSE.
Closing as this appears to have been resolved in mesa.
Hey there,
I have some graphical glitches in Big Picture Mode and TF2 (see pictures). I have to disable STEAM_RUNTIME to get the sound working properly. Some games like Fortix 2 or Counter-Strike are running without glitches. I'm using openSUSE 13.1 with Intel graphics driver.
