Linux mint debian 64 bit - i can't start any games after update (Built apr 21 2014) #3287

I can't start any game after the steam client update (Built apr 21 2014) and later.

After "preparing launching game" the game start ( i see the tab in desktop panel) but nothing happen and i can't see nothing.

I have tried DO2. Star conflict, LFD2, TF2. Metro. No one works.

Im using LMDE 64 bit Mate.

Reinstall steam client and games don't work.

Refresh Steam files don't change nothing.

I've had this problem with all the source-based games I play (CSS, TF2, L4D2) and "The Plan" since, at least, the release tagged as "Built: Apr 23 2014, at 12:47:55 ; Steam API: v014". The only other game I play is Counter-Strike 1.6 and this one launches well.

I waited for an other release of the steam client to see if it fixed it but the yesterday released did not.

The "Game removed: AppID 240 "Counter-Strike: Source", ProcID 4877" occured by killing the game processes manually.

I know Debian (and therefore LMDE) is not officially supported but since it worked quite well before it is too bad having the compatibility broken...

Hello @Mandalore31, @Loceka, are either of you still experiencing this issue on an up to date system?

Hello @kisak-valve I have changed my PC since then and haven't tryied valve games on the new one. But I still had the problem in october 2017.

If you feel like investigating further at some point, please copy your system information from steam (Steam -> Help -> System Information) and put it in a gist, then include a link to the gist in this issue report. Also, please include either ~/.steam/error.log or /tmp/dumps/<username>_stdout.txt after trying to run one of the games.
