Cannot start any game, black screen or crash #3913

All steam games have stopped working, they start but only a black screen can be seen. On Debian testing, last nvidia drivers (352.21), gtx 750 ti Changing to beta version and back doesn't solve the problem, rebooting does nothing, disabling the steam overlay nothing...

Also, the "system information" function crashes steam, giving this error:

process 13430: arguments to dbus_connection_unref() were incorrect, assertion "connection->generation == _dbus_current_generation" failed in file ../../dbus/dbus-connection.c line 2794.
This is normally a bug in some application using the D-Bus library.

From the first response, this could be a locale issue as evidenced by:

(process:17949): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library. Using the fallback 'C' locale.

There are several open issues (#3897 is one example) regarding this. I would suggest trying one of the fixes mentioned in the other reports.

But nothing changed, and it gives that error the same...

Btw the other game (blockstorm, unity based) doesn't work too and it doesn't give that error, the same for other unreal engine based games... The only game that works is a non-steam game in the library, and the steam overlay doesn't work in it.

Debian testing or Linux Mint?

Running Steam on linuxmint 1 64-bit

Any other recent updates? Also, Blockstorm may have some useful information in its Player.log. The file is located somewhere in ~/.config/unity3d.

At the beginning it was LMDE, then i changed the sources and put the debian testing ones, so it's basically debian testing. I don't think this is a huge problem, games always worked, recently for the new nvidia drivers or new updates everything broke on steam.

I don't know what to say, the third last line scares me a bit, but the drivers works ok, non steam games run well.

Sadly, nothing in there that indicates what might be causing the issue. From the logs you've posted so far, I'm fresh out of ideas.

A strange thing, when i start a game, as i've already said, the only thing that shows up is a black screen or some other glitches, but when i terminate the process from the gnome system monitor, the game shows for a while before closing!

For example, in garry's mod, i start the game, it only shows a static blue screen, but when i close it, it "takes life" and shows the loading bar and everything before closing, the same for CS-GO.
