I can confirm this happens with the following command as well:

steam steam://takesurvey/1/
kisak-valve commented 4 years ago

Hello @furai, are you still experiencing this issue on an up to date system?

auyer commented 4 years ago

I can confirm it still happens. I've just tested both commands, and both get stuck in "Sending gathered data...".

I still want to contribute with the steam survey. Last time I had a chance, I was using an old notebook, and I built a few computers since.

furai commented 4 years ago

Sorry for replying late. I'm still experiencing the same issue. It hangs on sending the gathered data.

OK, I have never been offered a steam survey for liunx despite running steam exclusively under linux since the beta client came out in I guess 2012.

I have just forced it to do something by using the above command:

steam steam://takesurvey/1/

and it crashes. I notice the following error after the survey starts:

ThreadGetProcessExitCode: no such process 12551
sh: lsb_release: command not found
sh: lsb_release: command not found
abc-mikey commented 3 years ago

installing lsb_release unfortunately still leaves it crashing.

Dear all, I'd like to participate to the Steam survey. Here are my system details: https://gist.github.com/spyrou008/88dc40b9a3473caa4dd9c1e8e28d54da I am experiencing same behavior as @abc-mikey and @furai : The command:

xdg-open steam://takesurvey/2

gives the output:

steam.sh[16490]: Running Steam on manjarolinux 21.2.6 64-bit
steam.sh[16490]: STEAM_RUNTIME is disabled by the user
steam.sh[16490]: Can't find 'steam-runtime-check-requirements', continuing anyway

Whereas the command:

steam steam://takesurvey/1/

gives the output:

steam.sh[16766]: Running Steam on manjarolinux 21.2.6 64-bit
steam.sh[16766]: STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled automatically
setup.sh[16840]: Steam runtime environment up-to-date!
steam.sh[16766]: Steam client's requirements are satisfied

In both scenario , I get stuck at "Sending gathered data", with the Cancel button, that I eventually hit, after a while. Hope that helps.

Just wanted to note that I have the same issue on a Windows 11 PC.
