New chat UI breaks bspwm

I am running bspwm as my window manager.

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Whenever opening the new chat, a part of my desktop is broken. This is shown in the gif I recorded:

With the new chat UI disabled (-nofriendsui) this doesn't happen.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

1. Open the new chat UI on a bspwm desktop
2. Try to click on the left of the screen
3. Workspace gets changed to where Steam is and all the clicks on that part of the screen are clicks in Steam.
