Steam crash after launching on CentOS 8.1 with amdgpu-pro 20.10 #7125

FX-8300, RX560 2GB, 8GB RAM

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Describe what you expected should happen and what did happen. Please link any large code pastes as a Github Gist I install CentOS 8.1, install steam, install amdgpu-pro 20.10 (use command ./amdgpu-pro-install -y, even reinstall CentOS and install steam, and install amdgpu-pro 20.10 with command ./amdgpu-pro-install -y --opencl=legacy) and i got hang steam and i successfully close him and my system works normally, or steam hang and i got crash xorg (only tty available, even after rebooting). With mesa drivers steam works. Window with error shows up. You can see this error in my post: "https://github.com/flathub/com.valvesoftware.Steam/issues/564" Also i send email to support amd, and they answer me: go to github and create post with issue on "https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux" and you can ask or find something on steam community forum for linux users.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Install CentOS 8.1
  2. install steam
  3. install amdgpu-pro 20.10 with command "./amdgpu-pro-install -y --opencl=legacy" or "./amdgpu-pro-install -y"
  4. you got steam crash or you got steam crash and xorg crash (it seems xorg crash with gdm and no xorg crash with sddm, but it maybe not true)

Hello @koreanfan, can you check if any 32 bit opengl application like a 32 bit build of glxinfo works?

It looks like https://centos.pkgs.org/8/centos-appstream-x86_64/glx-utils-8.3.0-9.el8.x86_64.rpm.html has both glxinfo and glxinfo64, but I don't know if glxinfo from that package is 32 bit. Your log is telling you that mesa is failing to initialize, which hints that you've encountered a video driver issue. Also, no OpenGL application should be capable of crashing X and bringing down the system, which also indicates a video driver issue.

Yes. This is caused by lacking 32 bit OpenGL drivers. That is why it is working on Wayland only.

Yeah, i have tested dota 2 with amdgpu-pro on wayland and its work
