Hi, I have similar issue but on Ubuntu. The problem seems to be similar to those in #8854 but that is already closed so I am posting here. I have tested my memory with memtester and my RAM is working it seems.
Hello,
I assume you retried a few times and that didn't fix it. How about today? What happens if you change your download region?

I didn't try today but I have tried (multible times) changing my download region and all the other 'fixes' that I could find on the internet, the problem doesn't go away if I do this.
I'm having the same issue.

I've gotten this with 'God of War' (The one that came out on steam in 2022), and Sonic Frontiers
I am experiencing the same issue, was working fine the other day on Majaro, switched back to Arch and this happened, disks were wiped clean, run RAM and SSD checks just now they all report no errors.
Game affected is dota2, will try to download CS:GO to see what happens there.
I had firewall completely off while downloading not that makes a difference, download was not paused ever. Tried several times outcome is always the same. Exact same behaviour as the folks above.
Edit:
I have managed to resolve the issue, it was related to missing libs for me. If you examine the reported sys info and mine we both miss libs under "library-details", cryptographic ones. I have installed sudo pacman -Syu core/libxcrypt-compat
which provides all of the missing ones and then game fixed itself. The previous person who commented does not have this information under sys info the key library-details
is missing but then I can see libcrypt.so.1
is linked for them. However, there could be other ones which are missing, perhaps they could try installing the equivalent of the arch package I have mention above for their distro and see if this resolves the issue.
@segastep I tried this and worked for one of my games (after deleting every file that was still saved by steam) but this issue keeps reappearing with other games that I try to download. I am now trying a game but i've noticed that sometimes my steam crashes mid-way this is my dump: assert_20230527133616_152.dmp.tar.gz
I got the same error after updating Steam and updating my motherboard (gigabit a520 s2h). With some games (small in size), retrying to download them helps, but not with big ones. I have tried all the ways from the Internet but without result.
os: ubuntu ![Screenshot_20230807_193159](https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/assets/23351834/0790e7af-57fc-
Can also reproduce on Ubuntu and f2fs.
in my problem I have crashed field which make my problem with steam
I'm also having this issue, the library install fix didn't seem to help me :(. Only with some games (tf2) not others.
Your system information
Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
I formatted my hard drive to ext4 (was ntfs), then tried to install my previously working games with no luck.

I highly doubt that 3 unrelated (beamng being native, and dead cells being native) games would suddenly show such errors. I also tried geometry dash: 322170 wich installs fine without issue ? Dead cells does install and work on my root partition.
Update: Reinstalling steam (wiped ~/.steam and ~/.local/share/steam aswell as /d/SteamLibrary) did not resolve the issue.
