Steam gives up when downloading a client update fails #90

I have to restart Steam every time a client update (or part of it) fails to download. The usual error is

SteamUpdater: Error: Download of package (bins_ubuntu12) failed after 0 bytes (200).

And after that the update sits doing nothing.

Should it not retry or at least give the user an option to retry? Or at least tell the user the update failed?

There have been a number of changes in this area over the last year, are you still seeing the problem?

I'm experiencing this issue right now. Steam's update progress keeps going back instead of moving forward. It downloads a chunk and then, apparently, downloads it over again and again endlessly.
