No host input in Remote Play Together #9081

Your system information

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Steam does not see host gamepads when using Remote Play Together. Guests gamepads are fine though (tried Windows). 2023-01-08_14-15 Gamepads are indeed connected and work well in game, both Steam and non Steam. But can't be seen by Remote Play Together.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Start a Remote Play Together session
  2. Look at "Game settings" inputs in Remote Play Together Window.

We poked around a bit more:

If a friend of mine joins, and its gamepad is recognized it automatically appears in slot 2. If I drag and drop its gamepad to slot 1 then my own gamepad magically appears in slot 2, my friend's gamepad taking slot 1. I can then reorganize them at will, and my gamepad works ingame.

This is fixed as of March 20 2023's build. Thank you !

Reopening as it happened again. Tried with Lara Croft and the temple of Osiris.

I found a temporary workaround : Enable steam input. Right click on the game, properties, Controller, Enable Steam Input in the combobox. Launch the game and start a remote play session. All your controllers (host) will appear.

I'm having a similar issue where, even after installing game-devices-udev and installing steam-input udev rules, any user that joins me in remote play is unable to use controllers. my own controller is fine; other people's controllers wouldn't work.
