In-game overlay causes freeze

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Within the past few weeks there has been some kind of update to Steam or csgo that causes my entire system to freeze when i open the steam overlay in game. I haven't tested this on multiple games but when I play csgo and open the steam overlay by for example trying to sell an item on the market, both of my screens and desktops (workplaces) get the gamma increase effect because of my brightness on csgo im guessing, the game is frozen and I can't interact with any open window on my PC.

The only way I could get around this was by running killall steam with dmenu and then wait for my shell to load in an opened terminal to run htop and kill steam through that. Pressing the steam overlay button to close it didn't work.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

1. Be in csgo
2. Open steam overlay

I bet it's only related to cs:go I have an very similar issue (Will make a new one, because it's not identical) and e.g. rocket league and monopoly poker isn't affected.
