Haptics value cannot be changed #9754

Your system information

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Changing the haptics value doesn't cause the Steam Deck touchpads to actually change their haptics strength. The value gets reset every time.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Go to settings.
  2. Go to controller.
  3. Go to "Calibration & Advanced Settings"
  4. Go to "Haptics Settings", and change the value.
  5. Exit, and return to the Haptics section. Test Case: The value should reset back to what it was before being changed

Hello @isaboll1, this reads like an issue with the Steam client running on SteamOS instead of an issue with SteamOS as a platform, so I've transferred this issue report to the steam-for-linux issue tracker.

I believe I am also experiencing the core of this issue, which is that settings related to haptics are not saved in the "Haptics Settings" menu. The only place I am able to get any settings related to haptics to stick is with the Steam Haptics toggle in the right-side performance menu on Steam Deck. If you try and disable haptics through the controller settings in "Haptics Settings", then as soon as you leave that menu page the haptics will re-enable themselves.
