Feature Request: Add a screenshot key option #284

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

Hello.

Is it possible to add a screenshot option to be able to take game screenshots
without having to use an external program?

By the way, it would be preferred if the screenshots were taken of the internal
resolution of the game and not the size of the window.

Thanks guys!

I'm not sure.
Here is programs like Fraps or Bandicam wich captures screenshots, and this is
commercial software. Why you expecting someone will do for you its functional
for free ? ;)

Because every emulator has a screenshot option, and as I can see, people are
allowed to request features here.

Besides, external screenshot programs don't capture the internal resolution of
the game, they just capture what you see on the screen.
It is important to be able to capture screenshots directly from the
framebuffer, like how MAME/MESS does it.

Yay, cah4e3 to the rescue.

I can't wait to know what the internal resolution is for all Atomiswave games
once the screenshots are taken the way MAME does it.

why you needed that "internal resolution" ? if you expecting kind of pixel
perfect picture - forget about it, all emulators which uses hardware GPU
rendering doesnt such precise, not even close.
all currently available DC/Naomi etc emulators just render picture in some
(usually fixed) resolution, not even related to as you say real 'internal',
then show this rendered puicture onscreen. there no scaler emulation,
deinterlacer, dithering, framebufer, etc, nothing.

except in latest "GPU DX11 NG" video render made by me, but there much more
important things must be done and fixed.
also we lack of human resources, so I'm pretty sure - this feature request will
be not made, because I do not interested to do this, and there no one else who
working on emulator's GPU/graphics part.

Hmm I see.
Well hopefully in the future you get some new members to help, and maybe one of
them will be able to do it. Even if it's years from now.

thanks.
about Atomiswave games internal render resolution - its 640x480, just like
almost all Dreamcast or Naomi games.
as for final picture output to video DAC - in PowerVR2 CLX2 its always 640x480
for VGA or 640x320(with or without interlace) for TV modes.

Oh so it's a fixed resolution? I thought it was like other systems that have
different internal resolutions depending on what part of the game is
displaying. For example, the title screen might have one resolution, but the
gameplay has a different one.

But thanks for the info man. Hopefully the "repeated pixel lines" (issue 135)
gets fixed for the next release and good luck with everything.
