Defender crashes and returns to HBC #5

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Load defender

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Game should start, instead I see random noise on the screen for a fraction
of a second before it returns to HBC.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
The one in this forum with the pacman fix (0.5+)

Please provide any additional information below.
Nothing comes to mind

That random noise on the screen is normal, lots of other game show it at start
up.

Is there any messages in the errors.txt file? Try to run the game then give me
the
last couple of lines from the file.

I deleted error.txt and run only defender. This is the entire content of
error.txt:

2010-04-21 18:13:35: src/mame/drivers/williams.c: alienar is a duplicate name
(src/mame/drivers/williams.c, alienar)
2010-04-21 18:13:35: src/mame/drivers/williams.c: Alien Arena is a duplicate
description (src/mame/drivers/williams.c, alienar)
2010-04-21 18:13:35: src/mame/drivers/williams.c: Alien Arena uses the same ROM
set
as (src/mame/drivers/williams.c, alienar)
2010-04-21 18:13:35: src/mame/drivers/williams.c: alienar is a duplicate name

2010-04-21 18:13:35: src/mame/drivers/williams.c: Alien Arena is a duplicate
description (src/mame/drivers/williams.c, alienar)

Do I need to copy alienar to run defender? If so it's not telling me that some
ROM
are missing.

BTW the random noise isn't at the game startup, it's when sdl-mame exist back
to the
HBC. But it seems to do that even if I select exit from the menu so that's
probably
not relevant to the defender crash.

I tried to copy alienar.zip in the roms but both game do the exat same thing:
cause
sdl-mame to crash and exit to the HBC with the same text in error.txt.

I believe I've found the problem. Try this .dol and see if it works.

That works. in defender I get stuck in the test but that's probably because I
didn't
have the nunchunk handy. AlienAr works fine too. I don't see a way to mark this
issue
as fixed.
