affinity sort: high value feature #240

affinity sort asks you to connect your:

  1. slack
  2. discord
  3. linkedin

other stuff optional (could do twitter + facebook + insta + other socials longer term)

and MVP does an "affinity sort" (post-MVP can use a two-stage sort on affinity count AND connection order)

affinity sort works by counting shared groups, and it generates a lead warmth signal that is super valuable for networking, particularly as part of the job search

shared group inputs:

  1. current member of same slack or discord server
  2. follow same linkedin or facebook page
  3. went to same school
  4. same-company alumni
  5. affinity target shares current or target job title

post-MVP can have a custom affinity sort, but that would be the base signal. so if someone

problem: i think i can only run the sort among ladderly members? otherwise how can I know Jim who works at amazon is bananaboi on Discord foo? i think Jim would need to sign up no? so ya. high value feature but depends on people signing up for ladderly and connecting their social graph

we can also have within-ladderly affinities that don't require connecting socials. so users can just pick things like skills and interests and we can use that data. taro also has "i'm willing to do mock interviews" and stuff like that, so we can do that.

basically, strengthen ladderly as a networking platform. taro also does "we will pay for meetup coffee" which is super smart in this regard
