Vanilla uses gnome, which uses mutter, which doesn't support HDR.
So this needs to be implemented in mutter.
Maybe HDR will be available in GNOME 48 (march 2025) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-sxkx6Oqi8&t=865s
Feature Description
HDR (High Dynamic Range) support allows images to be displayed with a wider range of colors and brightness, providing a more realistic and immersive visual experience. This feature would allow Vanilla OS 2 Orchid users to enjoy HDR content on compatible monitors such as movies, games and photos.
Rationale
Implementing HDR support on Vanilla OS 2 Orchid would provide several benefits to users:
Enhanced visual experience: HDR provides a clearer, more detailed and more realistic image with more vivid colors and deeper contrast. Support for a wide range of content: More and more content is available in HDR format, including movies, games and photos. Compatibility with modern hardware: HDR monitors are becoming more and more affordable, and HDR support is an essential feature of many modern devices.
