+1, I have experienced this exact same issue. Xubuntu 18.04, Java 8. I choose the manifest.json CMPDL creates a temporary folder, and then freezes. You can't interact with the program in any meaningful way, it does nothing, and must be force closed with xkill. Vazkii, please investigate.
Edit: You can run the .jar file from terminal if you put the link right behind it, cool. I tried putting a link to the curseforge page and got some weird loop pictured below:http://imgur.com/WuUAWaol.png
Editedit: it works when ran with sudo, for some reason. Neat.
Edit 3: Without doing anything to my machine, this has now broken again. It refuses to take any links and only returns 403s as it goes looking for a page that doesn't exist. For example, if we input https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/peace-of-mind we get: http://i.imgur.com/wBh5pDn.png It can no longer find the latest file. It will do the same thing to zip files and manifest.jsons: http://i.imgur.com/vaDSn6A.png http://i.imgur.com/8SZAAea.png Can someone else test if they get this same error?
I also have the 403 issue.
My guess is that they moved the files as I can no longer use minecraft.curseforge.com for mods and modpacks. Instead i get redirected to curseforge.com.
The 403 issue can be worked around by downloading the pack file and then selecting it in "Choose local modpack", but freezing still happens.
I downloaded PO3 about a week ago without any trouble, but with SkyFactory 4, I have extreme difficulties. When I click the download button, the application freezes, and I have to use the
killall java
command to close it. https://imgur.com/a/JTjOj7N
