I used only two mods, Biomes o' Plenty and Ambience for both MC 1.7.10 and MC 1.8.9
I created a simple config specifying a generic song and a song specifically for the Jungle (vanilla) and the Prairie (BoP) biomes.

In MC 1.8.9 the specific vanilla biomes will play their specific music, but the mod added biomes do not.
In MC 1.7.10 neither kind of biome play their specific music.
