Yikes - sounds like something is seriously wrong with your computer. Anyone
else getting this?

Found the solution: The Logitech Mouse Controller is the culprit (see
http://lists.apple.com/archives/applescript-users/2008/Apr/msg00094.html). So
it has
nothing to do with your installer, it was just the first "osascript" I executed
in
Terminal.

sorry, but my environment.plist still gets corrupted. I looked into the wrong
user
account. So the nasty messages are gone but the script still doesn't work for
me

Can you open a new issue?

not necessary.
finally! solved:
the plist file gets converted to a binary format (see "man plutil" or
http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t-57381.html)
I do not know why this happens and perhaps most people do not manually edit
their
environment.plist files, but I can now convert the environment.plist file back
to xml.
Perhaps I am just too new to OS X.
Pooh. finally done.

lol - yeah, the binary format is the default format from what I understand
now-a-days.
Glad you found out how to get it back to text.
