Custom RPC users on their way to lag your system by putting gifs in their activity. I understand the idea, and it would probably make for a nice plugin. But I feel like fetching the status for games could and probably would cause a lot of issues.

an alternative you could have it come from a database of verified statuses, and then have others return to default

I added an option to disable GIFs, but I found it not to cause any issues on my system anyways even on big servers. Plugin is also available in my userscripts repo for now.

Ive had a custom RPC with a gif inserted once. Some of my friends complained that their clients would lag extremely on opening my profile, to the point they were scared of it crashing. While most gifs are probably fine, its worth noting that some gifs are poorly encoded like in my example, and have a chance to break things.

I've done a little bit of digging and I was able to recover the exact gif in the above mentioned situation. It can be found under the following link: https://media.tenor.com/ITTco6xQm4IAAAPo/skull-emoji.mp4.
