Record Summary at top of DwC pages #282

(this issue may need to be merged with an existing issue)

This issue was raised by Steering Committee Members during our call today - they would like to see some summary information (e.g., collection, institution, species name, location) at the top of the record detail pages for two reasons:

  1. it makes the search more user friendly - especially for those who are not taxonomists or professional scientists, and,
  2. it keeps the search/query terms in mind as a user is reviewing detail data.

This is the comment from DBlackburn via our Feedback form:

The information displayed on the landing page when you click on a specific record could be simplified. I realize that it is simply displaying all of the information in DarwinCore, but it might be nice to have a simpler, glossier page to encourage the uninitiated user. Keep the "All Terms" page, but don't make it the landing page. A simpler landing page with the following would probably be nicer: Institution Code, Collection Code, CatalogNumber,Preparations, EventDate (OR Day, Month, Year), Country, State, County, Locality, DecimalLatitude, DecimalLongitude. Also, for that landing page, I would make the information at the top be the collection catalog number information, followed by the species identification, and then the locality. Keep it simple to encourage new users, but then have the All Data page also still available.

Interestingly, this maps pretty well with the fields we had on our priority list for indexing!

Truth! @dbloom this issue duplicates #247 so I'm closing this one.
