Is ViaMCP planned for 1.16.5?

Yes, I plan to support more major game versions at some point, however there is already https://github.com/ViaVersion/ViaForge ported for all game versions up to 1.20, if you need any reference implementation / mappings, you can just take a look at the ViaForge source code, most things should be similar to the 1.12.x module.

Won't do since there is no official MCP for this version and therefore no good mappings to use, people can use ViaForge's submodule for this version to get a view for Forge mappings, looking at the GH Issues people already managed on using this in 1.16.5 so I assume it's fine.
