Mining with two computers at a time #120

Hello Felty! I've been doing mining tests with two computers at the same time. I have put to work the second miner (2) before the first miner (1). The miner 2 I have put it on a powerful computer with enough power. The miner 1 I have put it to work after the miner 2 in an old computer with little power. I see in moneroocean that miner 2 (I see the name) is working with less power than miner 1 when this should be the opposite. What can be caused this?

mcdeimon commented 5 years ago

I have stopped the miner number 2 first (I'm the only one on my website who is using it) and in monero Ocean the hashrate of miner 1 has been reduced and also at the same time the hashrate of miner 2 has increased. It is possible that there is some kind of interference between the two miners.

Hrm... This is weird. I will test as have plenty of computers to go around.

@mcdeimon Question... If you clear the temporary cache on both machines does it still have this issue profoundly?

VidYen commented 5 years ago

Actually... This might be RNG

This is just one miner on a test wallet that I only mine to. I left it on last night for a while by itself an only one computer mining to it. I am curious what happens if I happens if I let it run... And then ad a second computer. There is a lot of talk on notgiven688 about the issues with the has rate.

Ok. I tested on my laptop and desktop and it seems that my desktop was getting 6 h/s and then the laptop has about 2 h/s and then the desktop goes up to 8 h/s, but they are two mostly modern devices not running at highest speeds. However, there was a problem me and Oclin were having two weeks ago during testing and I'm curious if a slower device could in theory cause this, but was mostly due to CN_v1 vs CN_v2 mining at same time to same wallet, but since CN_v1 is always rejected now, the problem went away.

But I think of all thing, better has rates are worth investigating. I have been keeping an eye on the webminerpool thread about improvements.

I'm going to ask Oclin about some possibilities... Otherwise, I think this might be the hash acceptance variances which seems to be quite exasperated with the decrease of hash rate on the XMR network over all. (But I think profits have gone up due to decrease of total network difficulty)

VidYen commented 5 years ago

I talked to Oclin and he didn't that slow devices should affect. I'm thinking its general variables of the hash acceptance.

It's likely a fluctuation, so just run it for a few hours with one machine to see the average, then run it for another few hours with both machines to see the average.

I think this has been resolved (mostly)
