3 weeks ago I have to admit I actually managed to forget american units are a thing. Ignorance is bliss 😅
In regard to the points
- I had trouble with fl. oz. because there are two values for this unit. The american one and the imperial one (I documented the differences on page 43 of the manual in chapter B). (As far as I understood it there are differences, let me know If I am wrong about it) And because there were those differences I really had no idea what to do with them ... like, what is standard? Which one should I implement? I still really do not know the answer; guess it depends on which country it is used more?
- Yeah, cups are the same thing as fl. oz. I think I never quite decided on how to handle this unit. Altough, it would make sense to at least predefine a translation for it.
- You mean like 1'22'' (1 feet 2 inches)? In general conversion from fractions to decimals should be possible.
- Oh, its "ounces"? I did not know that.
Oh yeah, digging into the non-metric systems was quite the trip. Especially once I figured out that there differences between the same unit depending on the country.
(which makes sense because it is a mess)
I'm sure there's other things that I'm currently forgetting. I'll see if I can dig into it and actually contribute as well instead of just logging an issue. This is to remind me.
As someone who grew up with DE/Metric measurements and has had to come to terms with the insanity that is measuring things by volume instead of weight I fully understand why it isn't included.
