The mod currently does not support Forge nor 1.12.2, this is something I have considered doing because 1.12.2 is hugely popular still. However, I'm not entirely sure how I'd be able to pull it off whilst still maintaining full support for modern versions of Minecraft through Fabric, which is the main hurdle for me.
To see if it was even possible to get the mod running on 1.12.2, I actually tried porting the mod to Legacy Fabric 1.12.2 and I was able to actually get it to run but it looked goofy and I had to remove a lot of functionality to get it to run.
I'll mark this as an enhancement. I don't know when it'll be implemented, but still.
