newest reply on top #326

I think the newest reply to a forum discussion should be on top.
Otherwise users do not seem to find it...

Perhaps a better solution is to increase the number of items per page?  If the 
chronological order is reversed then conversations no longer make sense when 
reading, because you first see replies to posts you have not yet read, and 
points of discussion already established or settled may be hidden below the 
fold.  This would also encourage people to respond to the OP rather than to the 
discussion, which is fine for blog comments or wall posts but is not the point 
of forums.

All other flat forum software (phpBB, kusaba, vBulletin, etc) use chronological 
order for threads, I'm pretty sure it's the right way to go.

Alternatively, we could add controls to the top of the thread for [newest 
first],[oldest first], etc.

Yes, whatever is easier for you:

increase number of items per page or give option newest/oldest first.
